Project 6 

   Rock or Mineral

    - Assemble with a team of 1 - 2 members and complete the activity below.

    - You may video yourself doing the following below.

    - Find a rock or mineral that you do not know what it is.

    - Perform the rocks and minerals tests to try to discover what kind of rock or mineral it is.

    - Do the research to see if you were correct.  If you were not correct, try to find your rock in a book.

    - Explain what kind of rock or mineral you have and why it is what you say it is.  Explain the tests you used to discover what it was.

    - You may need to use the internet or Science book or textbook to find out more about rocks and minerals.

 

Project 5 

  Wiring an information cast on making a citrus fruit battery

    - Assemble with a team of 1 - 4 members and complete the activity below.

    - Video yourself doing the following below.

    - Explain which kinds of citrus fruits you used.

    - If you used more than one, explain which worked best.

    - Explain why you think some the citrus fruits you used worked the way they did.

Project 4

  Wiring a house information cast

    - Assemble with a team of 1 - 4 members and draw a wiring plan for lights in a house you created.

    - Explain which kinds of circuits you used.

    - If you created a switch, explain how it works.

    - Draw a plan using electrician symbols we used in class.

    - Decorate the rooms of your house.

    - Explain how you designed your house and why you chose the types of circuits you used.

Project 3

 Island of the Blue Dolphins Video cast

Reread and study the assigned chapter from Island of the Blue Dolphins.  You may need to read the chapter three or four times to completely understand it.

             Think about the chapter you reread.

 □      List as many important events that took place in that chapter that you can think of:

 □      Write a script of including the important events for that chapter.

 □      Use toys, dolls, or action figures to act out the performance of that chapter.

 □      Be sure to only add in the important details. 

 □      You may make up some of the concepts based on what you read.

 □      Be sure what you come up with goes along with what you read for that chapter only. 

 □      Add personality to the characters you use.

 Project 2

  Rocks video information cast

    - Assemble with a team of 4 -5 members and write an information cast about the rock assigned to you.

    - Your information cast should be 2-3 minutes in length.

    - You may choose what to write about so long as it has something to do with the rock assigned.

    - Ideas for different clips: Where can your rock be found?  How is it mined?  What is it used for?  How did your rock form?  Other information...

    - Be sure to download your own backgroud or video clips or pictures you may want to use for your video.

    - Be sure to memorize your lines and map out how you want to act out your scene.

    - Practice with your group, and edit your work.

    - Bring in any props you may be using a day ahead.

Project 1

  Akiak video newscast

    - Assemble with a team of 2 to 3 members and write a newscast about Akiak.

    - Your newscast should be 2-3 minutes in length.

    - You may choose what to write about so long as it has something to do with the story we read.

    - Be sure to memorize your lines and map out how you want to act out your scene.

    - Bring in any props you may be using a day ahead.
